BRIS — thunder activated ads
BRIS is a cildren’s rights organisation in Sweden. The insight for this campaign by the agency Kid was that children with traumatic war experiences could get PTSD from thunder and lightning. A bit of technical wizardry made it possible to show digital ads only during thunder.
Important for these targeted messages was to write them in the native langugages of the kids, in this case Ukrainian and Arabic. But the typeface that BRIS normally use didn’t support either. So I was given the task of designing Cyrillic letters in the same style, so that the text in Ukrainian would look exactly the same as BRIS’ communication in Swedish.
I’m not qualified for designing Arabic type, and it has a completely different construction anyway, so for the Arabic text I simply recommended a typeface with similar characteristics.
